A North Carolina judge says a woman convicted of resisting a public officer and being intoxicated and disruptive must write an essay on being a lady.
Toni Marie King, 21, of Warrenton, pleaded guilty June 28 in Halifax County District Court to charges of resisting a public officer and being intoxicated and disruptive in exchange for prosecutors dropping charges of assaulting a government official, larceny and possession of stolen goods, The Daily Herald, Roanoke Rapids, N.C., reported Monday.
Chief District Court Judge Brenda Branch ordered King to write a two-page essay as part of her sentence titled "How a Lady Should Behave in Public."
King, who was accused of stealing beer from a Presto store Feb. 3 and fighting with her arresting officer, was also sentenced to 12 months supervised probation and a substance abuse and alcohol assessment.
