An 18-year-old girl has become Britain’s youngest qualified HGV driver.
“Baby Trucker” Jess Stubbs has joined sister Lucy, 24 – the “Mother Trucker” – and dad Graham in the family horse bedding business.
She said: “My dad, uncles, cousins and sister are truckers. It runs right through my family.
"You just have to get used to the driving and once you’ve cracked it everything’s brilliant.
“For me, it wasn’t always about going to university – it was about what you enjoy.”
Jess, from Ashbourne, Derbyshire, said although most truckers are men, more and more women are taking to
the road. She added: “The best part of the job is never knowing where you’re going to go - it can be anywhere in the country.
"One day you’re in Scotland surrounded by breath-taking views, the next you’re on the south coast."
