A man in Siberia was arrested early Saturday after he took a 16-year-old girl hostage and demanded a date with her older sister, officials said.
The suspect allegedly intruded into the teenager's home in the Siberian city of Novokuznetsk, looking for her sister, RIA Novosti reported.
Interior Ministry officials said when the man could not find the older sister, he took out a weapon that resembled an assault rifle that turned out to be an air gun and "a bundle of green wire that resembled a grenade" and threatened the teenager.
"The man demanded that the teenager call her sister or he would blow up the house," the ministry said.
Police convinced the man to surrender and arrested him on charges of abducting a teenager. If he is found guilty, he faces as much as five years in prison.
